Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Saturday, May 31: At 1:34 am a deputy assisted Jefferson police officers with a brief vehicle pursuit in the area of west Wall Street in Jefferson. At 9:24 am a deputy was advised of a minor two vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Jefferson and Grant Streets in Scranton. The vehicle owners exchanged information and left the scene so no report was needed by the deputy. At 5:03 pm a deputy assisted personnel from the Greene County Emergency Medical Services and the JPD with locating and transporting a bicyclist who had fallen from her bike and was reported to be unconscious 200 yards south of the trestle bridge south of Jefferson on the bike trail. She was transported to the Greene County Medical Center ER for further evaluation.
Friday, May 30: At 1:26 am a deputy was dispatched and investigated the report of an attempted burglary to a residence in the 400 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction.
Thursday, May 29: At 1:40 pm a deputy assisted the animal control deputy with citations in Grand Junction. At 9:14 pm a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office and the Coon Rapids police department in locating a person for whom there was an outstanding arrest warrant in Scranton. An officer from the Coon Rapids PD arrested Gary Lee Warnke 59, of Scranton for interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor*.
Wednesday, May 28: At 7:37 am a deputy was dispatched and investigated criminal mischief within Seven Hills Park in the 1600 block of M Avenue in Jackson Township. At 9:31 am a deputy was advised of the theft of three American flags from the 200 block of State Street in Paton. At 1 pm the newly assigned animal control deputy picked up a reported dog running at large near Dunbar Slough and transported it to the animal shelter in Jefferson. At 1:45 pm the chief deputy was dispatched to a two vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 25 and County Road E-63 in Willow Township. Brandy Ann Thompson, 38, of Scranton was driving south on Highway 25 in her 2005 Dodge Durango when James Charles Thuman of Clarinda was stopped at the stop sign at E-63 and pulled away from the stop sign, striking the Thompson vehicle in the passenger side door. No injuries were reported and both vehicles sustained an estimated $1500 in damages. Thuman was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way. At 2 pm a deputy and the animal control deputy issued eight citations in Grand Junction for dogs not having proper dog licenses or proper registration with city hall. At 5:56 pm a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office with traffic control at a two vehicle accident in Carroll County on Highway 30 east of Glidden.
Tuesday, May 27: At 8:50 pm a deputy and the Grand Junction fire and rescue squad was dispatched to a motorcycle accident that occurred at County Road P-46 and 305th St in Washington Township. Daniel Eugene Hull, 53, of Perry failed to negotiate the curve and slid into the grassy triangle area at the curve. Hull was not seriously injured but he was transported to Greene County Medical Center for evaluation. He was cited for failure to maintain control. His 2008 Yamaha V-Rod motorcycle sustained major damage.
Monday, May 26: At 4:45 pm a deputy and the Grand Junction fire and rescue squad were dispatched to a one vehicle personal injury accident on the Highway 30 overpass just east of Grand Junction. David Michael Olson, 33, of Boone was westbound when he drove into the cable guard rail on the south side of the overpass, possibly due to a medical cause. Olson’s 2002 Ford Windstar minivan flipped into the air and came to rest facing east. Olson was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags in the vehicle deployed. Fire and rescue personnel extracted Olson from the vehicle and transported him to Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation The minivan sustained major damage, and approximately 400 feet of cable guard rail must be repaired. The accident is under investigation. At 7:46 pm a deputy investigated a reported phone harassment complaint in the 700 block of S. 9th St in Grand Junction. At 9:05 pm a deputy was dispatched to a two vehicle accident that occurred in the 1100 block of Highway 4 north of Jefferson. Susan Tronchetti, 57, of rural Paton was northbound following Clay Evan Ross, 41, of Jefferson. Tronchetti attempted to pass Ross just as he began to turn into a residential driveway. Their vehicles collided. No injuries were reported. Ross was cited for failure to use a turn signal.
Sunday, May 25: At 6:55 am a deputy spoke with a Perry police officer about 4-wheel ATVs being ridden around the borders of Dallas, Boone and Greene counties the previous night. At 7:20 am a deputy was asked to check the identity of three males subjects sleeping in a van behind the Casey’s General Store in Scranton. The three were asked not to camp in the area and to please move on. At 4:29 am a deputy spoke with a resident of the 1400 block of Kirkwood Ave in Jackson Township who came to the LEC to report several attempts of identity theft from his checking account. No funds were reported lost from the account. At 6:07 pm a deputy checked the report of criminal mischief to a van window in Scranton. The window appears to have been shot with a BB gun.
Saturday, May 24: At 3:57 pm a deputy was advised of cattle on the roadway at County Road E-57 and P-30 (R Ave) in Franklin Township. The owner was contacted and placed the cattle back into the pasture. At 11:54 pm while on routine a patrol a deputy initiated a traffic stop for excessive speed (75 mph in a 55 mph zone) on County Road E-53 and Q Ave east of Jefferson. The deputy subsequently arrested Jeremy Earnest Andrews, 26, of Grand Junction for operating while intoxicated (OWI), driving without a valid driver’s license and excessive speed*. A juvenile female with Andrews was cited for possession of alcohol under legal age.

Thursday, May 22: At 11:39 am a deputy checked a residence in the 900 block of Main St in Scranton for the report of unauthorized entry into the house. At 4:44 pm a deputy was dispatched to Scranton to investigated an assault that reportedly occurred on a school bus earlier in the afternoon.
Wednesday, May 21: At11:35 am a deputy while on routine patrol located a vehicle in the ditch at U Avenue and 300th Street in Washington Township. After an investigation the deputy subsequently arrested Jennifer Wendy Gohn-Chavez, 43, of rural Jefferson for driving while revoked*. At 5:11 pm a deputy responded to a barking dog complaint in the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, May 20: At 10:19 am the sheriff spoke with a Perry resident that reported an act of road rage and possible harassment occurring in Rippey. At 1:29 pm a deputy assisted with a noncompliant student at the Greene County Intermediate School in Grand Junction. At 4:52 pm a deputy investigated criminal mischief to a pickup in the 400 block of 11th Street in Grand Junction.
Monday, May 19: At12:03 am a deputy assisted a JPD officer with a domestic disturbance in Jefferson. At 2:05 pm a deputy investigated a reported harassment complaint in the 900 block of Sand Street in Churdan. At 4:10 pm a deputy spoke with a Jefferson resident about receiving harassing phone messages from her daughter who resides in Grand Junction. At 4:18 pm deputy David Kersey responded to Scranton to investigate the report of a male juvenile brandishing a hand gun and allowing other youngsters to view and handle the gun on school property at the bus stop. The juvenile was located and the hand gun was determined to be an air soft pellet gun. Deputy Kersey confiscated the air soft gun and detained the boy until all parents were spoken with about the seriousness and dangers of a pellet gun. At 7:12 pm a deputy initiated an investigation involving a harassment complaint at the Paton- Churdan school in Churdan.
Sunday, May 18: At 2:23 am a deputy assisted a Jefferson police officer with a traffic stop and subsequent arrest of a male and female subject. At 2:35 am due to a JPD officer being busy on another call, a deputy was dispatched to the Sparky’s One Stop in Jefferson East for a reported verbal dispute. After an investigation by the deputy he subsequently arrested Hayley Brown, 21, of Jefferson for driving while barred.* At 3:09 pm a deputy spoke with a Rippey resident about her son having his jacket stolen from his vehicle while parked at the laundromat in Grand Junction. At 6:28 pm a deputy was advised of a stray dog that was found in Grand Junction and needed to be placed in the animal shelter in Jefferson.
Saturday May 17: At 10:30 am a deputy investigated a trespassing complaint in the 2100 block of Neola Ave south of Jefferson.
Friday, May 16: At 10:50 pm, the Webster County sheriff’s office advised dispatchers at the LEC of a single vehicle accident that occurred on the Webster – Greene County line. Dylan Mikul Casali, 17 of Grand Junction was eastbound on 100 St approaching Highway 144 in Paton Township when he lost control of the vehicle. He slid into the east ditch as he approached the intersection. Three youngsters were riding with him. There were no injuries. Casali was cited for failure to maintain control. No damage to the vehicle, a 2003 Ford Taurus owned by Jon Bushman of Scranton, was not available.
Thursday, May 15: At 3:20 pm a deputy was advised by a resident in the 2000 block of 250th Street in Junction Township that his wallet was either lost or stolen while he was in the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. The deputy planned to view the store video to determine who may have taken the wallet.
Wednesday, May 14: At 10:29 am a deputy was dispatched to a farm building site in the 100 block of 185th St in Kendrick Township for a reported burglary and theft of tools and a generator. At 2:43 pm the sheriff’s office investigated a fatal one vehicle accident on County Road P-46 (V Ave) between 330th and 340th St in Washington Township. Edwena Joyce Roberts, 79, of rural Rippey was northbound on P-46 when she possibly swerved to avoid striking an animal in the roadway. She over-corrected and entered the east ditch, striking a culvert. She suffered fatal injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. At 6:39 pm a deputy assisted the DNR with transporting a wounded night hawk to a location to be picked up for rehabilitation purposes. At 8:05 pm a deputy was asked to check the welfare of several cats left in an abandoned residence in Dana.
Tuesday, May 13: At 12:07 pm a deputy assisted the Department of Human Services with an investigation into an alleged assault that was reported to have occurred in Grand Junction. At 5:50 pm, a deputy was advised by a resident in the 500 block of South Park Street in Paton of the theft of personal property from her garage.
Monday, May 12: At 7:37 pm, a deputy was advised of an ongoing harassment situation between school age youth that had occurred at a Jefferson residence and the Greene County Intermediate School in Grand Junction. At 7:52 pm, a deputy was advised of a gas drive off from the Casey’s General Store in Lohrville. The subject was pursed by Lohrville firefighter and was reported to be entering Greene County. With assistance of the firefighter giving direction of travel, the Greene County deputy was able to locate and stop the vehicle at 140th Street and County Road P-33 in Dawson Township. A Calhoun County deputy soon arrived on scene to speak with the driver.
Sunday, May 11: At 1:57 am a deputy while on routine patrol stopped a vehicle on 120th Street at O Ave in Dawson Township. The driver refused all standardized field sobriety testing and the deputy subsequently arrested Adam Vaughn Bauer, 29, of Paton for OWI-first offense.*
Saturday, May 10: At 1:59 am a deputy assisted officers with the Jefferson police department in responding to a reported altercation at the Sparkey’s One Stop on Highway 30 in Jefferson. One male subject was subsequently arrested by the officers. At 10:18 am a deputy assisted a Jefferson police officer with a two vehicle accident on Elm and Harrison Streets in Jefferson. At 10:18 am the chief deputy sheriff assisted the JPD with impounding a recovered stolen vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen from Ankeny and recovered in the 400 block of West State Street in Jefferson. At 10:36 am a deputy was advised of a skid loader that had become stuck on the Union Pacific railroad tracks at the P-14 crossing in Jackson Township. Dispatchers from the Greene County LEC advised the railroad of the situation and to stop all trains near the crossing. Dispatchers were soon advised that the loader had been removed and to inform the UP railroad that the crossing was now safe.
Friday, May 9: At 8:56 am a deputy investigated the theft of an electrical welder from the 1600 block of 300th Street in Franklin Township. At 8:58 am a deputy was dispatched to Henderson Park for the report of criminal mischief to a fiberglass overhead garage and walk door at a storage shed belonging to the Greene County conservation. At 2:06 pm a deputy was dispatched to the Casey’s General Store in Scranton to assist management in getting payment for gas that was purchased and not paid for. The identity of the male driver is known and the deputy will make contact with him at a later time. At 2:27 pm the Greene County sheriff’s office investigated the theft of truck and mobile home parts from a building site in the 1300 block of Oakland Avenue in Hardin Township. At 5:27 pm a deputy was dispatched to the report of graffiti being written on the school playground in Grand Junction. The deputy spoke with all parties involved and resolved the issue.
Thursday, May 8: At 7:58 am a deputy and Grand Junction fire and rescue were dispatched to a reported grass fire at County Roads P-46 and E-26 in Junction Township. The fire was extinguished without incident. At 3:58 pm, a deputy and the Jefferson fire department were dispatched to a reported one vehicle accident on Jordan Ave near County Road E-53 west of Jefferson. Jamie J. Theulen 17, of Scranton was traveling northbound on Jordan Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch. Theulen was not injured in the accident but his 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck sustained an estimated $5000 in damages. Theulen was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. At 4:55 pm weather spotters were dispatched to their respective spotting locations throughout the county after the National Weather Service issued watches and warnings for Greene County. At 6:20 pm a deputy and the Grand Junction fire department were dispatched to 502 12th Street in Grand Junction for a reported car fire. Grand Junction acting fire chief Tim Fester believes the fire started in dash of the 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe owned by Eric Higgins of Grand Junction. Damage to the Tahoe was estimated to be $10,000. 7:54 pm a deputy was advised of an unknown stray dog being restrained by a resident in the 600 block of Irving Street in Scranton. The owner was identified and picked up the dog.
Wednesday, May 7: At 6:29 am a deputy investigated the theft of a Suzuki 125 Enduro motorcycle from the 100 block of Cottage Avenue in Paton. At 8:37 am, a deputy was dispatched to the 1600 block of 300th Street in Franklin Township for the reported theft of two radiators and a small engine. The theft is under investigation at this time.
Tuesday, May 6: At 11:16 am a deputy investigated criminal mischief to the Greene County conservation maintenance shed at Henderson Park south of Jefferson. At 11:16 am a deputy was dispatched to the 2200 block of X Avenue in Washington Township to investigate the report of illegal dumping of trash. At 5:23 pm a deputy located and arrested Nastassia Chanel Goff, 29, of Rockwell City for a violation of probation. Goff was held at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center. At 6:47 pm a Grand Junction resident from the 300 block of 9th Street South spoke with the chief deputy sheriff about fraudulent charges to her ATM debit card.
Monday, May 5: At 10:47 am a deputy responded to the report of several head of cattle on the Union Pacific railroad right of way at Highway 3 and County Road P-46 (W Ave) east of Grand Junction. The deputy placed the cattle back into the pasture. At 1:50 pm a deputy was dispatched to the report of discarded drug paraphernalia on K Ave just north of 145th St. The discarded items were recovered by the deputy. At 3:38 pm a deputy spoke with a resident in the 200 block of County Road P-29 (N Ave) in Highland Township about identity theft to her Visa bank card. At 3:29 pm a deputy responded to a reported burglary to an unoccupied mobile home trailer in the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction. At 6:02 pm,a deputy was dispatched to the 700 block of E. Main Street in Grand Junction for a vicious dog report. The owner of the dog stated that the dog had broken its collar. The owner was warned about dogs running at large. At 6:08 pm, a deputy checked the report of cattle on the roadway at the railroad crossing on P-46. At 7:42 pm, a deputy responded and spoke with the owner of several barking dogs in the 500 block of Perkins Street in Churdan. At 11:09 pm a deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of 2nd Street in Rippey for the report of criminal mischief to a window and door. It was determined that several rocks were thrown at the house and a storm door window.
Sunday, May 4: At 3:10 am a deputy assisted several JPD officers with the pursuit of a vehicle and the subsequent arrest of an intoxicated driver.
Saturday, May 3: At 7:50 pm a deputy investigated the report of trespassing on private property in the 1400 block of 210th St in Hardin Township. At 10:19 pm a deputy was dispatched to the Casey’s General Store in Scranton for a reported gas drive off. The vehicle and driver were not located by the deputy.
Friday, May 2: At 3:39 pm a deputy was dispatched to a reported dog running at large in the Scranton cemetery. The deputy was unable to located the dog upon his arrival. At 6;07 pm a deputy was dispatched to Cooper for the report of criminal mischief to private property by 4-wheel ATVs. All parties involved were spoken to by the deputy.
Thursday, May 1: At 10:17 am a deputy initiated an investigation into a possible sexual assault in Grand Junction.
*In all cases when a defendant has been charged this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
